    I agree Remo coatings for batter heads don't seem to have much of a life-span I seldom use coated heads, prefer textured heads for snares so have limited experience To my ears, Evans heads seem to fit a more modern sound that emphasizes attack at the expense of resonance i would rather have the resonance, ergo i use mostly Remo heads

    Drum has original Remo UT snare side head that seems a little stretched out (not bad shape though, this drum has been played a little but is in very good shape)

    Remo sent me a set of heads for him He used a Coated Ambassador over a clear Ambassador on the high tom, and Coated Emperors over clear Ambassadors on the floor toms I really liked that combination, and I've been using it ever since (Sometimes I use coated Ambassadors on the resonant side )

    I also used Remo Renaissance, Remo Legacy (now, those were great sounding heads), Evans Strata and several others I forgot I think the Skyntone is the best attempt that Remo ever offered to create a calf like drum head It is rather thin (more like a Fiberskyn FD), but still has enough bottom end to not sound too thin

    I am a big fan of the Remo coated Vintage heads for toms I used Ambassador weight on small toms (10 12) and Emperors on floor toms I am fine with regular Ambassadors and Emperors as well, but the Vintage series heads feel a bit softer and sound warmer in tone to me I simply prefer that for the time being
