  • What your characters say in Latin while casting spells.
Hi sorry to necro on this post, there's a spell I am curious about the meaning in Latin, and apparently my spelling is dog shit because I can't find anything lol It's used for the "Thoroughly Stuffed" spell and a few others I can't remember, I think for summons? Phonetically it sounds like "Mya score-see-oh" do you know what that spell means?
  • Voco question : r anathem - Reddit
Voco question Is there anything to stop avout who have been Evoked from reentering their math when their job is done? Presumably they could just walk in the Year Gate at Apert, then go through the appropriate Labyrinths?

  • Can I just say. . . : r BaldursGate3 - Reddit
Conjuration: "Facio, Voco, Ferre" = "This I do, I call, to bring you forth" Facio is just "I do" Ferre is an present infinitive form of the verb fero, so "bringing" Your translation would be Res facio, voco, ad ferendum te ulterius Enchantment: "Cupio, Virtus, Licet" = "I want, excellence, allowed to me"
  • Difference in words : r latin - Reddit
Yeah, but in different forms Voco is the 1st person singular present active indicative Like equum voco means "I call the horse" Vocare is the infinitive Servum rogo equum vocare would mean "I ask the slave to call the horse" (I think haha only in Latin 1, haven't even learned infinitives in class) vocatus is the perfect passive participle
  • is there a difference between avó ô and vovó ô? : r Portuguese
As the others have said, "vovó ô" is an affectionate way to refer to your grandparents At least here, a usage difference is that "avó ô" is never used as vocative, only "vovó ô" or "vó ô" So we usually say "meu avô" in the 3rd person (though "meu vô" would work just fine), but directly calling your grandfather "avô" sounds very strange (Idk if it's different anywhere else though lol)

  • Translation Help -- Ne Obliviscaris : r latin - Reddit
it's not really passive, but rather deponent (passive in form but active in meaning) If it were indicative (oblivisceris) it would mean “don’t forget” or “forget not ” ne oblivisceris is simply ungrammatical in classical latin, and in earlier latin, when it was grammatical, it meant 'you do not forget, you are not forgetting'
